Understanding the Switch Options
Depending on your preference and your home setup, you can choose the switch that best suits you.

If you want to know more about our switch options there is detailed information below. At the bottom of this page is a table that will help you make the best choice.

IMPORTANT: A dimming switch will not work with an external timer because it will reset to OFF when the timer cuts power to the line and will not turn back ON when the timer resumes power supply.

A dimming switch is not the right choice if you have your lamp on an external timer or (in some situations) on smart power points run by a control system in your house. For example you might have your lamp in an entrance hallway, on a timer set to switch on around dusk and switch off later at night. Some people use timers to switch lamps on and off while they are away so the house doesn't look unoccupied. Some people use a control system that switches smart power points on and off according to the time of day or preset options. If this is your situation, choose an ON/OFF switch option instead.

In-built dimming touch switch.
A dimming switch allows you to set your ambience exactly as you like it. A dimming switch is generally the right choice for our table or bedside lamps.

In this option, the touch-sensitive switch is readily accessible but hidden near the power cable on the back so it will not be seen from the front.
This in-built switch allows you to turn the lamp on and off (quick single tap) and adjust the brightness (tap and hold). The illuminated ring makes it easy to find in the dark, but if that blue glow is distracting (for example in a bedside lamp) you can quick-double-tap it to disable the indicator.

If you are using an external timer, then you should choose an ON/OFF switch instead.
NOTE: If your control system allows you to set a smart power outlet to ALWAYS ON, then you could use this dimming switch and manually turn the lamp on and off.

In-built ON/OFF switch.
If you are using an external timer, then you should probably choose a simple ON/OFF switch. Your lamp will always operate at full brightness (no dimming function).
NOTE: If your smart house control system allows you to set a smart power outlet to ALWAYS ON, then you could use a dimming switch and manually turn the lamp on and off.

In-line foot switch with in-line dimmer.
We make our own foot switches because the commercially available ones are cheap, plastic and don't look very good. Also included is an in-line rotary dimmer unit (pictured) which can be easily inserted between the foot switch and the lamp if dimming is required. Our floor lamps are designed to give a generous amount of illumination so if you need something more moody, the dimmer will allow that. If you don't require dimming, simply omit the in-line dimmer and plug our foot switch directly into the lamp.

Unlike the in-built dimming switch you can choose for our table lamps, this foot switch and dimmer will not be affected by timers or smart power points. If the switch is in the ON position, the lamp will turn back on when your timer/smart point resumes sending power down the line.
